Concourse Connector Set to Close, New Paths for People and Pets
Concourse Connector Set to Close, New Paths for People and Pets
1/4/21

Tomorrow, the hallway that connects the north and south sides of the Portland International Airport will close. The closure of the Concourse Connector is necessary to make room for the new main terminal footprint at PDX.

Construction crews have started expanding the airport 150 feet to the west to bring the new main terminal design to life. When complete in 2023, a new concourse connector will open.

With the closure of the Concourse Connector, travelers will need to check boarding passes carefully and use the security checkpoint that corresponds with their gate location. Flying out of the B and C gates? Use the B/C checkpoint. Flying out of the D and E gates? Use the D/E checkpoint. For connecting passengers, a special express lane is available to expedite passage through the checkpoint if they need to go from one concourse to the other. Connecting passengers who have TSA PreCheck may use that lane instead of the express lane.

The airport’s service animal/pet relief area, which is currently located in the concourse connector, will also close on Jan. 5. Two new pet relief areas will be available for travelers and their four-legged companions near gates C4 and D2. There is also a pre-security pet relief area outside the terminal near the MAX light rail station.

Ticketed travelers may still access the shops and restaurants on both sides of the airport, though they will need to pass through security on each side (remember, no liquids through security!). Travelers can also download the At Your Gate app to see what delivery options exist.

Stay up to date with the latest airport construction information and learn about the exciting changes that are a part of PDX Next.
