Swag, Sweets and Smiles: Celebrating PDX People

Every day, PDX People make sure visitors to our airport feel welcome. Whether they’re offering a kind greeting, pointing the way to a gate or pouring that much needed cup of coffee, it’s the friendly, knowledgeable and respectful service that continues to make PDX America’s Best Airport.
Those daily efforts don’t go unnoticed – it’s why every year we dedicate a week to celebrating and uplifting the reason our airport is so beloved: YOU!

This year’s week-long celebration took place on Sept. 13-18, and included events on the roadway and airfield where local vendors TillamookAybla Grill and Café de Crepe served up delicious food.

Between the scheduled activities, our Ambassadors of Fun team roamed the airport and rode the employee shuttle, handing out treats from DB Desserts and Joe Brown’s Caramel Corn.

It was evident throughout the week that PDX People were proud to work at the airport, and beyond that, proud of each other. Many folks asked if they could bring back goodies for a coworker who couldn’t get away from their post: That’s the PDX family looking out for one another.

Though all the events were filled with special moments, one stood out in particular for Shannon McArthur, Customer Connection Coordinator with the Port of Portland.

“As the Ambassadors of Fun were handing out treats in the terminal, we approached two wheelchair attendants, coming down the concourse with their passengers,” she shared. “While we thanked the employees for their hard work, their passengers  – along with nearby group of travelers  – erupted in applause and cheers, singing the praises of the employees. It was truly heartwarming!”

From roadway to runway and concourse to construction, your hard work and commitment to upholding our values are appreciated. Thank you, PDX People!
