Community Engagement in Hillsboro
Community input from Hillsboro and Greater Washington County helps inform our work at Hillsboro Airport (HIO). Throughout the year, the Port hosts and participates in a wide variety of local events and activities to share information, answer questions, hear feedback and concerns, and build relationships with our neighbors and community partners around the Hillsboro area.
Hillsboro Airport Community Forums
Twice a year, in the spring and the fall, we host Hillsboro Airport Community Forums. Forums cover updates on airport operations and timely or emerging topics of interest, like development projects, noise management, and the transition to unleaded aviation gasoline (avgas). We also use Forums to spotlight local organizations and partners, raising awareness of their work and sharing how community can engage with the resources they offer. Forums are open to anyone interested. We offer both in-person and virtual attendance options, and materials are available in both English and Spanish. In-person and virtual Spanish interpretation services are also provided. Find out when the next forum will be held by checking the calendar of Upcoming Events below or by subscribing to our newsletter, Port Currents.

Staying Connected to the Community
The Port often hosts engagement activities in Hillsboro centered on specific projects and planning efforts, or to listen to community concerns. Some of these opportunities include open houses, advisory committees, and surveys.
In addition to hosting our own events, we participate in partner-led activities throughout the year to connect with our neighbors, share information, and answer questions.
